Programming Guide for 2009 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac SRX
Important Notice: The 2009 Cadillac SRX supports onboard programming of remote keyless entry fobs. The programming method differs based on whether your vehicle is equipped with Driver Information Center (DIC) buttons or not. Follow the steps appropriate for your configuration.
Procedure for Vehicles with Driver Information Center (DIC) Buttons:
- Step 1: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
- Step 2: Press the Vehicle Information button repeatedly until the display shows PRESS TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY.
- Step 3: Press the Set/Reset button. The message REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE will appear on the Driver Information Center.
- Step 4: Pick up the first remote you want to program. Step 5: Press and hold both the Lock and Unlock buttons on the remote at the same time.
- Step 6: Continue holding both buttons for approximately 15 seconds, or until you hear a chime, confirming successful programming.
- Step 7: To program additional remotes, repeat Steps 4–6 for each one. The system allows programming of up to eight remote fobs.
- Step 8: After programming all remotes, turn the ignition OFF.
- Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 10: Test each remote to ensure full functionality—Lock, Unlock, Trunk Release, Panic Alarm, and Remote Start (if equipped).
Procedure for Vehicles without Driver Information Center (DIC) Buttons:
- Step 1: Make sure the vehicle is in Park (P) with the parking brake applied.
- Step 2: Insert the ignition key and turn it to the ON position without starting the engine.
- Step 3: Press the Trip Odometer Reset stem until the display shows RELEARN REMOTE KEY.
- Step 4: Press and hold the Trip Odometer Reset stem for approximately 3 seconds until the display reads REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE.
- Step 5: Pick up the first remote fob.
- Step 6: Press and hold both the Lock and Unlock buttons on the fob at the same time.
- Step 7: Continue holding the buttons for about 15 seconds, or until a chime is heard, confirming successful programming.
- Step 8: Repeat Steps 5–7 for any additional remotes. You may program up to eight fobs total.
- Step 9: Once all fobs are programmed, turn the ignition to the OFF position.
- Step 10: Remove the key and test each remote to verify it functions properly.
