Programming Guide for 2009 Mercury Sable Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: To program a new keyless entry remote fob for your 2009 Mercury Sable, you must have two previously programmed keys and the new unprogrammed key readily accessible. If you only have one working key, you will need a qualified professional to cut and program a second key.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Insert the first previously programmed key into the ignition.
- Step 2: Switch the ignition from the OFF position to the ON position. Keep the ignition on for at least 3 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
- Step 3: Switch the ignition back to the OFF position and remove the first programmed key from the ignition.
- Step 4: After waiting at least 3 seconds, but within 10 seconds of removing the first key, insert the second previously programmed key into the ignition.
- Step 5: Switch the ignition from the OFF position to the ON position again. Keep the ignition in the ON position for at least 3 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
- Step 6: Switch the ignition back to the OFF position and remove the second previously programmed key from the ignition.
- Step 7: After waiting 3 seconds, but within 10 seconds of removing the second key, insert the new unprogrammed key into the ignition.
- Step 8: Switch the ignition from the OFF position to the ON position again. Keep the ignition in the ON position for at least 6 seconds.
- Step 9: Remove the newly programmed key from the ignition. If the key has been successfully programmed, it will start the engine and operate the remote entry system (if the new key is an integrated keyhead transmitter). If the key was not programmed successfully, wait 10 seconds and repeat steps 1 through 8.
Additional Considerations: You must have two previously programmed keys to complete the programming process. If you only have one working key, you will need a professional to cut and program a second key before proceeding. Timing is crucial during this process. Ensure each step is followed promptly to avoid the vehicle exiting programming mode. Make sure the battery in your new key is fully functional before starting to ensure a smooth programming experience.
