Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions for the 2009 Scion tC
Important Note: You can program up to four remotes using the steps below. Follow each instruction carefully to ensure successful programming.
Step-by-Step Programming Process:
- Step 1: Start with the driver’s door open and the key removed from the ignition.
- Step 2: Within 5 seconds, insert the key into the ignition and remove it twice.
- Step 3: Within 40 seconds, close and open the driver’s door two times.
- Step 4: Insert the key into the ignition once more, then remove it again.
- Step 5: Within 40 seconds, close and open the driver’s door two additional times.
- Step 6: Insert the key into the ignition and close the driver’s door.
- Step 7: Select one of the following modes by turning the ignition ON and OFF the appropriate number of times: Once to add a remote while keeping existing remotes. Twice to erase all existing remotes and program a new one. Three times to check how many remotes are currently registered. Five times to erase all remotes from memory.
- Step 8: Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 9: The vehicle will now respond by locking and unlocking the doors: Once, twice, or five times depending on the selected mode. Then, it may lock and unlock slowly up to four times to indicate how many remotes are currently programmed.
- Step 10: Within 40 seconds, press and release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote simultaneously.
- Step 11: Within 3 seconds, press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote.
- Step 12: The doors will lock and unlock once if the programming is successful. If the process fails, the vehicle will lock and unlock twice.
- Step 13: Repeat Steps 10 and 11 within 40 seconds for each additional remote you wish to program (up to four total).
- Step 14: To exit programming mode, simply open the driver’s door.
