2009 Scion xD Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Note: These steps apply to programming the remote (keyless entry) function of a Remote Head Key. If your key includes a transponder chip, the blade must be cut and programmed by a qualified technician. If your key is non-transponder, only key cutting is required—no programming for the ignition portion is necessary.
Step-by-Step Remote Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Ensure the key is removed from the ignition.
- Step 2: Open and unlock the driver’s door using the manual door handle. Keep all other doors, including the trunk, closed.
- Step 3: Within 5 seconds, insert the key into the ignition and remove it twice.
- Step 4: Close and open the driver’s door two times.
- Step 5: Insert the key into the ignition and remove it again.
- Step 6: Close and open the driver’s door two more times.
- Step 7: Insert the key into the ignition and leave it inserted.
- Step 8: Close the driver’s door.
- Step 9: Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine), then turn it OFF.
- Step 10: Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 11: The door locks will cycle (lock and unlock) to confirm that the vehicle has entered programming mode successfully. '
- Step 12: On the remote you wish to program, press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 1.5 seconds, then release.
- Step 13: Immediately press and hold the LOCK button for 2 seconds, then release. The door locks will cycle once to confirm that the remote has been successfully programmed.
- Step 14: If you have additional remotes to program, repeat Steps 12–13 within the same session. If not, proceed to Step 15.
- Step 15: Open the driver’s door to exit programming mode. The process is now complete.
