Programming Guide for 2010 Integrated Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob (Keyhead Transmitter)

Important Notice: This vehicle allows onboard programming of an additional smart key only when two previously programmed ignition keys are available. The new key must be unprogrammed, compatible, and include an integrated remote entry system (keyhead transmitter). If you do not have two functional programmed keys, this procedure cannot be completed.

Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Ensure all three keys are in the vehicle before beginning: Two working, previously programmed ignition keys One new, unprogrammed smart key with integrated keyless entry remote
  • Step 2: Sit in the driver’s seat with all doors closed to prevent interruptions during the process.
  • Step 3: Insert the first programmed key into the ignition switch.
  • Step 4: Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine). Leave it in the ON position for at least 3 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
  • Step 5: Turn the ignition to the OFF position and remove the first key.
  • Step 6: Wait at least 3 seconds but no more than 10 seconds before proceeding.
  • Step 7: Insert the second programmed key into the ignition.
  • Step 8: Turn the ignition to the ON position and leave it in this position for at least 3 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
  • Step 9: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the second key from the ignition.
  • Step 10: Wait at least 3 seconds but no more than 10 seconds after removing the key.
  • Step 11: Insert the new, unprogrammed smart key into the ignition switch.
  • Step 12: Turn the ignition to the ON position and leave it in this position for at least 6 seconds. This duration allows the system to recognize and program the new smart key.
  • Step 13: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the newly programmed key from the ignition.
  • Step 14: Wait a few seconds, then insert the newly programmed key and attempt to start the engine.
  • Step 15: If the engine starts, the key has been successfully programmed.
  • Step 16: Press the lock and unlock buttons on the keyhead transmitter to confirm that the integrated remote entry system is functioning properly.
  • Step 17: If the engine does not start or the remote functions do not respond, wait 10 seconds and repeat the entire procedure from Step 3.

Additional Considerations: Both original keys must be functional and recognized by the system. If either key fails authentication, programming mode will not initiate. Strict timing between steps is essential. Delays longer than 10 seconds will cancel the programming process. Use only the ON position during programming. Do not attempt to start the engine until the process is complete and tested. Ensure the new key's battery is working properly to enable both ignition and remote entry functionality.
