Programming Guide for 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Keyless Entry Remote Fob Smart Key

Important Notice: This vehicle requires professional programming for both the key and remote head key portion. Follow the instructions carefully to program the smart key remote fob.

Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

  • Programming the Key Portion of the Remote Head Key: Step 1: Get the Key Cut Before beginning, ensure that the key is cut by a professional or equivalent to work with your Mitsubishi Lancer.
  • Step 2: Insert the First Working Key Insert an existing first (working) key into the ignition cylinder.
  • Step 3: Turn the Ignition ON for 5 Seconds Turn the ignition to the ON position without cranking the engine. Leave it on for 5 seconds, then turn it back to the OFF position and remove the key.
  • Step 4: Insert the Second Working Key Within 10 seconds, insert a second working key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position. The security light will flash twice. Turn the ignition back to OFF and remove the key.
  • Step 5: Insert the New (Unprogrammed) Key Within 10 seconds of removing the second key, insert the new (unprogrammed) key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position.
  • Step 6: Security Light Confirmation The security light will light up for 3 seconds to indicate that the new key has been successfully programmed.
  • Step 7: Repeat to Program Additional Keys If you wish to program additional keys, repeat Steps 4, 5, and 6 for each key. All new keys must be programmed within 30 seconds of removing the second programmed key and the security light flashing twice.
  • Step 8: Exit Programming Mode To exit programming mode, leave the ignition switched ON for more than 30 seconds.
  • Step 9: Verify Key Functionality Test the newly programmed key to ensure it works correctly with the ignition and security system. Programming the Remote Portion of the Remote Head Key:
  • Step 10: Locate the Data Port Locate the Data Port under the driver’s side dashboard, usually located to the right of the steering column.
  • Step 11: Insert Keys into Ignition Insert the keys into the ignition and leave them in the OFF position.
  • Step 12: Connect the Jumper Wire Make sure there are metal contact pins in terminals 1 and 4. Connect the Data Port terminals 1 and 4 with a suitable jumper wire. Leave the jumper wire connected throughout the programming procedure.
  • Step 13: Activate Programming Mode Within 10 seconds after connecting the jumper wire, press the Hazard Switch 6 times. The doors will automatically lock and unlock once, indicating that the system is in programming mode.
  • Step 14: Program the First Remote Press the LOCK button on the remote to be registered three times within 10 seconds. The door will lock and unlock once to confirm successful programming.
  • Step 15: Program Additional Remotes If you have up to 4 remotes (including any existing remotes), repeat Step 14 for each remote within one minute. The doors will lock and unlock once after each successful programming.
  • Step 16: Disconnect the Jumper Wire Disconnect the programming wire and remove the keys from the ignition once all remotes are successfully programmed.
  • Step 17: Test the Remotes Ensure all remotes are functioning properly. Test the lock, unlock, and start features to verify that all remotes are programmed correctly.
  • Step 18: Confirm Full Functionality Before concluding the session, confirm that the vehicle responds correctly to all functions of the new remote fob. If any issue arises, inform the professional immediately. Programming the F.A.S.T.-Key System:
  • Step 19: Remove Emergency Key from F.A.S.T.-Key Remove the emergency key from the F.A.S.T.-key.
  • Step 20: Remove the Cover of the Ignition Switch While pressing the lock release button, remove the cover of the ignition switch.
  • Step 21: Insert the Emergency Key Insert the emergency key into the ignition switch.
  • Step 22: Insert the Programmed F.A.S.T.-Key Insert the already programmed F.A.S.T.-key into the emergency key.
  • Step 23: Turn to ON Position Turn the emergency key with F.A.S.T.-key to the “ON” position. Perform the following steps within 30 seconds.
  • Step 24: Remove the F.A.S.T.-Key Remove the F.A.S.T.-key from the emergency key.
  • Step 25: Program the First Valid F.A.S.T.-Key With the first valid F.A.S.T.-key, press the UNLOCK button for 4 to 10 seconds, then press the LOCK button during this time.
  • Step 26: Release Buttons Release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons in sequence within 10 seconds of pressing the LOCK button. Perform the next steps within 30 seconds.
  • Step 27: Program the Second Valid F.A.S.T.-Key With the second valid F.A.S.T.-key, press the UNLOCK button for 4 to 10 seconds, then press the LOCK button during this time.
  • Step 28: Immobilizer Display Blinks Release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons within 10 seconds of pressing the LOCK button, and the immobilizer display will blink on the information screen in the multi-information display.
  • Step 29: Program the Blank F.A.S.T.-Key Press the LOCK button twice with the blank F.A.S.T.-key. The immobilizer display will come on for 30 seconds.
  • Step 30: Complete Registration This completes the registration of the F.A.S.T.-key. The indicator light will come on each time a button is pressed, and the keyless entry system will function properly once the process is completed.
