2010 Scion xD Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Note: These steps apply only to the remote (keyless entry) portion of the Remote Head Key. If the key includes a transponder chip, it must be cut and programmed by a professional technician. If the key is non-transponder, only cutting is required—no programming is needed for the ignition portion.
Step-by-Step Remote Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Ensure the key is removed from the ignition.
- Step 2: Open and unlock the driver’s door manually. Make sure all other doors, including the trunk, remain closed.
- Step 3: Within 5 seconds, insert the key into the ignition and remove it two times.
- Step 4: Close and then open the driver’s door two times.
- Step 5: Insert the key into the ignition once again, then remove it.
- Step 6: Close and open the driver’s door two more times.
- Step 7: Insert the key into the ignition and leave it inserted.
- Step 8: Close the driver’s door.
- Step 9: Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (do not start the engine), then switch it back to OFF.
- Step 10: Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 11: The door locks will cycle (lock and unlock) automatically, confirming the vehicle has entered programming mode.
- Step 12: On the remote you want to program, press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 1.5 seconds, then release.
- Step 13: Immediately press and hold the LOCK button for 2 seconds, then release. The door locks will cycle once if programming was successful. If unsuccessful, repeat Steps 12 and 13.
- Step 14: To program additional remotes, repeat Steps 12 and 13 for each one within the same session.
- Step 15: When finished, open the driver’s door to exit programming mode. The process is now complete.
