2010 Toyota Tundra Remote Keyless Entry Fob Programming Guide

This procedure applies to factory-installed keyless entry systems. Follow the steps exactly as described, as timing is critical. Any deviation may cancel the programming process and require restarting from the beginning.

  • Step 1: Prepare the Vehicle Remove the key from the ignition. Ensure the driver’s door is open and unlocked. All other doors must remain closed throughout the procedure.
  • Step 2: Begin Key Insertions (Must Be Completed Within 5 Seconds) Insert the key into the ignition (do not turn it), then remove it. Repeat: insert the key a second time (do not turn it), then remove it again.
  • Step 3: Perform Door Cycling (Must Be Completed Within 40 Seconds) Close and reopen the driver’s door once. Repeat: close and reopen the driver’s door a second time. Insert the key into the ignition again (do not turn it), then remove it.
  • Step 4: Final Setup (Must Be Completed Within 40 Seconds) Close and reopen the driver’s door again. Repeat this door cycle one more time. Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in place. Close the driver’s door completely. Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine), then turn it back to OFF. Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Step 5: Confirm Entry into Programming Mode Within 3 seconds of removing the key: The power door locks should lock and then unlock once automatically. This indicates successful entry into programming mode. If the locks do not cycle, return to Step 1 and restart the procedure.
  • Step 6: Program the Remote(s) (Must Be Completed Within 40 Seconds Per Remote) For Each Remote You Wish to Program: A. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds. B. Release both buttons, then press and hold the LOCK button alone for 2 seconds. C. The door locks should lock and unlock once, confirming the remote has been successfully programmed. If the locks cycle twice, the remote was not accepted. Repeat this step.
  • Step 7: Program Additional Remotes Repeat Step 6 for each additional remote you want to add. All remotes must be programmed during the same session. Any remotes not reprogrammed at this time will no longer function.
  • Step 8: Exit Programming Mode Open the driver’s door to finalize and exit programming mode.

Final Notes Maximum Remote Capacity:

  • The system typically supports up to four remote fobs. Battery Tip: Ensure all remotes have fresh batteries before attempting programming to avoid communication errors.

Timing Matters:

  • Follow all time limits precisely; exceeding them will cancel the session.

Factory System Only:

  • These instructions apply to vehicles equipped with a factory-installed keyless entry system. Aftermarket systems require different procedures.
