Programming Guide for 2011 Keyless Entry Remote Fob (Smart Key System)

Important Notice: The 2011 model is not equipped with onboard programming capabilities for remote keyless entry fobs. Programming must be performed by a qualified technician using specialized diagnostic tools. This process cannot be completed manually.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Confirm that the replacement remote fob is compatible with your vehicle’s factory keyless entry system.
  • Step 2: Gather all remote fobs that you intend to use. In most systems, previously programmed remotes must be reprogrammed during the same session or they may be erased from memory.
  • Step 3: Locate a professional automotive technician or service provider who has the necessary equipment to access the vehicle’s onboard programming system.
  • Step 4: Schedule a service appointment for remote programming. If the vehicle is drivable, visiting the technician's location may be more cost-effective than requesting mobile service.
  • Step 5: At the appointment, the technician will connect a diagnostic scan tool to the vehicle’s data port, which is typically located under the dashboard on the driver’s side.
  • Step 6: The technician will use the diagnostic system to access the vehicle’s remote keyless entry module and begin the programming sequence.
  • Step 7: Each remote will be programmed individually. After programming, the technician will test each one to verify that locking, unlocking, and other remote functions operate correctly.
  • Step 8: If multiple remotes are being added, they must all be programmed during the same session. Any remote not present may be removed from memory.
  • Step 9: After programming is complete, the technician will disconnect the diagnostic equipment and confirm that all programmed remotes are functioning properly.
  • Step 10: Test each remote before leaving the service location to ensure full functionality.

Additional Considerations:

Remote Capacity: The system can store a limited number of remote fobs. Refer to your owner’s manual for capacity limits.

Battery Check: Ensure that all remotes have working batteries prior to programming.

Ignition Key Programming: The ignition key also requires specialized programming tools and must be programmed by a technician. This process is not included in the steps above.

Repeat if Needed: If a remote does not function after programming, the technician may need to restart the procedure.
