Programming Guide for 2011 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – CTS
(Smart Key System Only)
If You Have One Working Remote: Follow these steps to add an additional remote using an already programmed key fob.
- Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is completely turned off.
- Step 2: Place the currently recognized remote(s) in the cupholder. Keep the new remote nearby.
- Step 3: Insert the mechanical key into the door lock cylinder on the outside of the driver’s door.
- Step 4: Turn the key to the unlock position five times within five seconds.
- Step 5: The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display: “Ready to Learn Electronic Key #2, 3, or 4.”
- Step 6: Place the new remote into the transmitter pocket with the buttons facing the front of the vehicle. (The transmitter pocket is located inside the center console between the front seats.)
- Step 7: A chime will sound when the remote is programmed. The DIC will display: “Ready to Learn Electronic Key #3 or 4,” or “Maximum Number of Electronic Keys Learned.”
- Step 8: Press the ignition knob to exit programming mode.
- Step 9: Remove the new remote from the pocket and press the unlock button twice to confirm functionality.
- Step 10: To program additional remotes, repeat Steps 6 through 9.
If No Working Remotes Are Available: Use the following procedure to program new remotes when none are currently recognized by the vehicle.
- Step 1: Make sure the vehicle is off.
- Step 2: Insert the new remote into the transmitter pocket with the buttons facing forward.
- Step 3: Insert the mechanical key into the door lock on the outside of the driver’s door.
- Step 4: Turn the key to the unlock position five times within five seconds.
- Step 5: The DIC will display: “Ready to Learn Keys.”
- Step 6: Press the ignition switch.
- Step 7: The DIC will display: “Learn Delay Active – Wait XX Minutes,” and begin a countdown.
- Step 8: Once prompted, press the ignition switch again.
- Step 9: Repeat Steps 7 and 8 two more times.
- Step 10: After the third delay, the DIC will display: “Ready to Learn Electronic Key #1.” (At this stage, all previously programmed remotes have been erased.)
- Step 11: A chime will sound once the remote is successfully programmed.
- Step 12: The DIC will then display: “Ready to Learn Electronic Key #2.”
- Step 13: For each additional remote, insert it into the transmitter pocket. After each is accepted, a chime will sound and the DIC will show the next key number.
- Step 14: Up to four remotes can be programmed. When the maximum limit is reached, the DIC will read: “Maximum Number of Electronic Keys Learned” and exit programming mode.
- Step 15: Press the ignition knob to complete the programming session.
- Step 16: Press the unlock button on each newly programmed remote to confirm it is working.
