Programming Guide for 2011 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac SRX
Important Notice: The 2011 Cadillac SRX allows onboard programming of smart key remote fobs. The steps differ depending on whether you currently have a working remote. Please follow the appropriate procedure below.
If You Have One Working Remote:
- Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is completely off.
- Step 2: Place the working remote in the front cupholder. Have the new remote ready.
- Step 3: Insert the mechanical key into the driver's side exterior door lock.
- Step 4: Turn the key to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds.
- Step 5: The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display READY TO LEARN ELECTRONIC KEY #2, or the next available number.
- Step 6: Open the center console between the front seats. Lift the tray to reveal the transmitter pocket.
- Step 7: Place the new remote into the pocket with the buttons facing forward.
- Step 8: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The system will recognize and program the remote. The DIC will confirm that the remote has been learned.
- Step 9: Remove the remote from the transmitter pocket and press the Unlock button to verify functionality.
- Step 10: To program more remotes, repeat Steps 6 through 9 for each additional fob.
- Step 11: After all remotes are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 10 seconds to exit programming mode.
- Step 12: Test all remotes to confirm proper operation.
If You Have No Working Remotes:
- Step 1: Make sure the vehicle is turned off.
- Step 2: Insert the mechanical key into the driver’s side exterior door lock.
- Step 3: Turn the key to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds.
- Step 4: The DIC will display REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
- Step 5: Wait approximately 10 minutes. The DIC will then display PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN.
- Step 6: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC will again show REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
- Step 7: Repeat Step 6 two more times. After the third cycle, all previously recognized remotes will be erased. The DIC will then display READY FOR REMOTE #1.
- Step 8: Open the center console and remove the tray to access the transmitter pocket.
- Step 9: Insert the new remote into the pocket with the buttons facing forward.
- Step 10: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC will indicate the remote has been successfully programmed.
- Step 11: Remove the remote and press Unlock to confirm functionality.
- Step 12: Repeat Steps 8 through 11 for each additional remote you wish to program.
- Step 13: When finished, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 10 seconds to exit programming mode.
- Step 14: Test all remotes to verify that they operate correctly.
