Programming Guide for 2011 Mitsubishi Galant Keyless Entry Remote Fob Smart Key
Important Notice: Follow the instructions carefully to program both the key portion and the remote portion of your remote head key. Ensure each step is completed in sequence to guarantee successful programming.
Program the Key Portion of Your Remote Head Key:
- Step 1: Ensure the Key is Properly Cut Before you begin, ensure the new key is properly cut. It must match the ignition system of your vehicle.
- Step 2: Insert the First Working Key into the Ignition Insert an existing working key into the ignition cylinder and leave the ignition in the OFF position.
- Step 3: Turn the Ignition ON for 5 Seconds Turn the ignition to the ON position (without cranking the engine) for 5 seconds, then return the ignition to the OFF position and remove the key.
- Step 4: Insert the Second Working Key Within 10 seconds of removing the first key, insert the second working key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position. The security light will flash twice, indicating that the system is ready for the next step.
- Step 5: Insert the New (Unprogrammed) Key Within 10 seconds of removing the second key, insert the new, unprogrammed key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position.
- Step 6: Program the New Key The security light will illuminate for 3 seconds, confirming that the new key has been successfully programmed.
- Step 7: Turn Ignition OFF and Test the New Key Turn the ignition to the OFF position and remove the newly programmed key. Repeat Steps 4 through 6 to program additional keys. All new keys must be programmed within 30 seconds of removing the second working key.
- Step 8: Exit Programming Mode Leave the ignition ON for more than 30 seconds to exit programming mode.
Program the Remote Portion of Your Remote Head Key:
- Step 1: Locate the Data Port Find the Data Port under the driver’s side dashboard, typically to the right of the steering column. This is where the jumper wire will be connected.
- Step 2: Insert Keys into the Ignition Insert the keys into the ignition and leave it in the OFF position.
- Step 3: Ensure Metal Contact Pins in Terminals 1 and 4 Make sure there are metal contact pins in terminals 1 and 4 of the Data Port. These must be connected for the programming process to begin.
- Step 4: Connect the Jumper Wire Connect a jumper wire between terminals 1 and 4 in the Data Port. Keep the jumper wire connected throughout the entire programming process. Ensure the wire is securely connected.
- Step 5: Activate Programming Mode Within 10 seconds of connecting the jumper wire, press the Hazard Switch six times in quick succession. The doors will automatically lock and unlock once, indicating that the system is in programming mode.
- Step 6: Program the First Remote Press the LOCK button on the remote you wish to program three times within 10 seconds. The doors will lock and unlock once to confirm successful programming.
- Step 7: Program Additional Remotes If you have more remotes to program (up to 4), repeat Step 6 for each remote within one minute. The doors will lock and unlock once after each remote is successfully programmed.
- Step 8: Test All Remotes After programming all remotes, test each one by pressing the lock/unlock buttons to ensure proper functionality.
- Step 9: Disconnect the Jumper Wire Once all remotes have been successfully programmed, disconnect the jumper wire from the Data Port.
- Step 10: Turn the Ignition OFF Ensure the ignition is turned OFF after disconnecting the jumper wire.
- Step 11: Remove Keys from the Ignition Finally, remove the keys from the ignition. Verify that all remotes are functioning properly before concluding the process.
