  • Step 2: Close all doors completely.
  • Step 3: Open the driver’s door and leave it open during the procedure.

Important Notes:

  • Up to four remotes can be programmed. Programming a fifth remote will erase all previously stored remotes. When adding a new remote, you must reprogram all remotes during the same session. Have all remote fobs ready before starting.

Smart Key Programming Steps:

  • Step 1: Close all vehicle doors.
  • Step 2: Sit in the driver’s seat and confirm that the driver’s door is unlocked.
  • Step 3: Insert the key into the ignition switch.
  • Step 4: Complete the following steps within 25 seconds of inserting the key:
  • A) Press the power door lock switch on the driver’s door to the LOCK position, then to the UNLOCK position.
  • B) Repeat the lock/unlock cycle two more times.
  • C) Press the lock switch once more to the LOCK position.
  • D) Remove the key from the ignition and reinsert it.
  • E) Repeat the key removal and reinsertion three more times (total of four key cycles).
  • F) Turn the ignition to the START position and allow the engine to run for 3 seconds.
  • G) Move to Step 5 within 60 seconds of starting the engine. Note: Failing to complete Steps 4A–F within 25 seconds or delaying Step 5 beyond 60 seconds after engine start will cancel the process. You must restart if any timing is missed.
  • Step 5: Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position. A buzzer will sound twice and the door locks will automatically cycle from lock to unlock, confirming entry into programming mode.
  • Step 6: Press any button (LOCK, UNLOCK, or PANIC) on the remote. The buzzer will sound twice, and the locks will cycle again to confirm programming. Repeat this step for each additional remote within 30 seconds.
  • Step 7: Complete the programming by either removing the key or turning the ignition to the ON position.
  • Step 8: Test each remote to confirm proper operation of the keyless entry and keyless start systems. If any remote does not function as expected, repeat the procedure from the beginning.

Security Reminder:

  • If a remote has been lost or is no longer in your possession, it is strongly recommended to clear existing codes by programming a new remote. This will erase all previously stored codes. Remember to reprogram all remotes during the same session—any remote not included will be deactivated and unusable.
