2012 Buick Enclave Keyless Entry Remote Fob (Smart Key)

Important Notice: The 2012 Buick Enclave does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Programming requires specialized diagnostic equipment and must be performed by a qualified technician. The steps below outline the general process used during professional programming.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is parked and the ignition is in the OFF position. All doors should remain closed throughout the procedure.
  • Step 2: Make sure you have all remotes, both old and new, with you at the time of programming. Remotes not present during the session will be erased from the system.
  • Step 3: A technician will connect a diagnostic scan tool to the vehicle’s OBD-II port, located beneath the driver’s side dashboard.
  • Step 4: Through the scan tool, the technician will navigate to the keyless entry system programming interface.
  • Step 5: The system will prompt for vehicle details and perform a security verification process.
  • Step 6: The new smart key remote will be placed in the vehicle’s designated programming location, often referred to as the transmitter pocket (usually located in the center console or beneath the armrest).
  • Step 7: The technician will initiate programming through the tool, and the remote will be registered to the vehicle's system.
  • Step 8: The vehicle may respond with audible chimes or lock/unlock cycle to confirm successful programming.
  • Step 9: If programming multiple remotes, each additional remote will be programmed by repeating this process within the same session.
  • Step 10: After all remotes are programmed, the technician will exit programming mode and disconnect the diagnostic tool.
  • Step 11: Test each remote to ensure all functions—including lock, unlock, panic alarm, and remote start (if equipped)—work correctly.
