Programming Guide for 2012 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: If no keys or remotes are available, onboard programming is not supported. In such cases, key programming must be performed by a trained technician using professional diagnostic tools at a certified service center or dealer.
Flip Key Programming – When One Working Key Is Available:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat and ensure all doors are securely closed.
- Step 2: Insert the current, already programmed flip key into the ignition.
- Step 3: Turn the ignition to the ON/RUN position and leave it there for a few seconds.
- Step 4: Turn the ignition back to the OFF position and remove the key.
- Step 5: Within five seconds, insert the new flip key into the ignition.
- Step 6: Turn the new key to the ON/RUN position. The security light on the dashboard should turn off, confirming successful programming.
- Step 7: Remove the new key and test it by starting the vehicle.
- Step 8: Repeat Steps 2 through 7 to add more flip keys if necessary.
- Step 9: Confirm that all programmed keys can operate the vehicle.
Smart Key Programming – All Keys Lost (For keyless push-button start models only):
- Step 1: Sit inside the vehicle and make sure all doors are closed.
- Step 2: Use the emergency key to manually unlock the driver’s door by turning it to the unlock position five times within ten seconds.
- Step 3: The display will read: ""Remote Learn Pending. Please Wait.""
- Step 4: Wait approximately 10 minutes until the next message appears: ""Press Engine Start Button to Learn.""
- Step 5: Press the ignition button one time. The system will return to the previous message.
- Step 6: Repeat Step 5 two more times. After the third cycle, the screen will read: ""Ready for Remote #1.""
- Step 7: Access the transmitter pocket under the center console cupholder by pulling the cupholder insert out.
- Step 8: Place the new smart key into the pocket.
- Step 9: Press the ignition button. Once accepted, the display will change to ""Ready for Remote #2.""
- Step 10: Remove the remote from the pocket and press the unlock button.
- Step 11: Repeat Steps 8 through 10 for each additional remote to be programmed.
- Step 12: Once all desired remotes are added, press and hold the ignition button for five seconds to exit programming mode.
- Step 13: Test each smart key for remote lock/unlock and push-button start functionality.
Smart Key Programming – Adding a Remote (With One Working Smart Key) (For keyless access models only):
- Step 1: Sit inside the vehicle with all doors closed.
- Step 2: Place the working smart key into the front cupholder.
- Step 3: Remove the emergency key from the new smart key remote.
- Step 4: Insert the emergency key into the driver’s door lock and turn it to the unlock position five times within ten seconds.
- Step 5: The display will read: ""Ready for Remote #2"" or the next available number.
- Step 6: Access the transmitter pocket under the center console cupholder by pulling out the cupholder insert.
- Step 7: Place the new smart key into the transmitter pocket.
- Step 8: Press the ignition button. When the key is accepted, the display will show the next available remote number.
- Step 9: Remove the key from the pocket and press the unlock button.
- Step 10: Repeat Steps 7 through 9 for each additional smart key you wish to add.
- Step 11: Press and hold the ignition button for five seconds to exit programming mode.
- Step 12: Confirm that all remotes work by testing lock, unlock, and engine start.
