Programming Guide for 2012 Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: Ensure that each step is carefully followed to successfully program your keyless entry remote fob. If issues arise, it is recommended to seek professional assistance.
Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming:
- Step 1: Locate the Data Port Find the Data Port, which is typically located under the driver’s side dashboard, near the right of the steering column.
- Step 2: Insert the Keys into the Ignition Place the vehicle keys into the ignition and turn the ignition to the OFF position.
- Step 3: Verify Metal Contact Pins and Connect the Jumper Wire Ensure that terminals 1 and 4 contain metal contact pins. Use a suitable jumper wire to connect these terminals. Keep the jumper wire connected throughout the entire programming procedure. Be sure to correctly identify terminals 1 and 4.
- Step 4: Activate Programming Mode Within 10 seconds of connecting the jumper wire, press the Hazard Switch six times. The doors will automatically lock and unlock once, indicating that the system has entered programming mode.
- Step 5: Program the First Remote Press the LOCK button on the remote you wish to program three times within 10 seconds. The doors will lock and unlock once to confirm successful programming.
- Step 6: Program Additional Remotes Repeat Step 5 within one minute for any additional remotes (up to 4 total, including any existing remotes). After programming each remote, the doors will lock and unlock once to confirm.
- Step 7: Test the Remotes Test each remote by pressing the lock/unlock buttons to ensure they are functioning properly.
- Step 8: Disconnect the Jumper Wire Once all remotes have been successfully programmed, disconnect the jumper wire from the Data Port.
- Step 9: Remove the Keys from the Ignition Finally, remove the keys from the ignition to complete the programming process.
Key Programming (Customer Key Programming):
Important Note: This procedure allows you to program new keys if you already have two valid, registered keys. This feature is available for vehicles sold outside Canada.
- Step 1: Insert the First Programmed Key Insert the first programmed key into the ignition and turn it to the “ON” position for 5 seconds.
- Step 2: Turn the Ignition to the LOCK Position Turn the ignition back to the “LOCK” position and remove the first key.
- Step 3: Insert the Second Programmed Key Within 30 seconds of turning the first key to the “LOCK” position, insert the second programmed key into the ignition and turn it to the “ON” position. Wait about 10 seconds for the immobilizer indicator on the dashboard to begin blinking.
- Step 4: Program the New Key When the immobilizer indicator starts blinking, turn the second key to the “LOCK” position and remove it. Within 30 seconds, insert a blank, specially cut key into the ignition and turn it to the “ON” position. Perform this step within 30 seconds of the immobilizer indicator blinking. When the key registration is successful, the immobilizer indicator will light up for 3 seconds and then turn off. If an error occurs, the indicator will turn off during the process.
- Step 5: Program Additional Keys To program additional keys, repeat the process starting from Step 1.
