  • Step 4: The technician will: Connect a diagnostic scanner to the vehicle's OBD-II port Authenticate access to the vehicle's Body Control Module (BCM) Enter Smart Key registration mode using the tool
  • Step 5: The new Smart Key fob is then registered electronically: Each button and function will be validated Proximity and ignition functions are tested to confirm signal accuracy
  • Step 6: The system supports programming of up to four Smart Key fobs. If any fobs are missing or lost, they can be removed from the system to maintain vehicle security.
  • Step 7: After programming, all remote functions should be tested: Keyless locking/unlocking Push-button engine start Remote panic or hatch release (if applicable)

Additional Notes:

  • The vehicle must be present and in good condition for programming to proceed. A new battery should be installed in the fob prior to registration. For best results, ensure all current fobs are present during programming to avoid unintentional deletion.
