If a fifth remote is programmed, all previously stored remotes will be erased. All remotes must be programmed together in the same session. Have all remote fobs ready before beginning.
Smart Key Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Close all doors.
- Step 2: Sit in the driver’s seat and ensure the driver’s door is unlocked.
- Step 3: Insert the key into the ignition.
- Step 4: Complete the following actions within 25 seconds of inserting the key:
- A) Press the power door lock switch to the LOCK position, then to UNLOCK.
- B) Repeat this lock/unlock cycle two more times.
- C) Press the switch to LOCK once more.
- D) Remove the key from the ignition, then reinsert it.
- E) Repeat the removal and reinsertion of the key three additional times.
- F) Turn the ignition switch to the START position and allow the engine to run for 3 seconds.
- G) Proceed to Step 5 within 60 seconds of starting the engine. Timing is critical. Failure to complete Steps 4A–F within 25 seconds or Step 5 within 60 seconds of engine start will cancel the programming process.
- Step 5: Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position. A buzzer will sound twice, and the door locks will cycle from locked to unlocked, confirming that the system has entered programming mode.
- Step 6: Press any button (LOCK, UNLOCK, or PANIC) on the remote. The buzzer will sound twice and the door locks will cycle again to confirm programming. Repeat this step for each additional remote within 30 seconds.
- Step 7: Complete the process by either removing the key from the ignition or turning the ignition to the ON position.
- Step 8: Test all remotes to verify that both the keyless entry and keyless start systems are functioning properly. If any remote does not operate, repeat the entire procedure from the beginning.
Security Notice:
- If a remote has been lost, programming a new one will automatically delete all previously stored codes. For safety, always reprogram all active remotes during the same session, as remotes not included will be erased and will no longer function.
