2013 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob and Ignition Key – LaCrosse
Important Notice: The 2013 Buick LaCrosse may use either a flip key ignition system or a smart key (Keyless Access) system. Use the appropriate instructions below based on the key type and whether a working key is available.
Section 1: Ignition Key Programming – Flip Key Models
A. If All Keys Are Lost: This model does not support onboard programming without at least one functional ignition key. Programming in this case requires specialized diagnostic tools operated by a qualified technician.
B. If You Have One Working Flip Key and Want to Add Another:
- Step 1: Insert the working key into the ignition and turn it to the ON/RUN position.
- Step 2: Turn the ignition to the OFF position and remove the key.
- Step 3: Within five seconds, insert the new key into the ignition and turn it to the ON/RUN position.
- Step 4: Wait for the security light to turn off, confirming successful programming.
- Step 5: Repeat Steps 1–4 for any additional keys you want to program.
Section 2: Smart Key Fob Programming – Keyless Access Models
A. If All Smart Keys Are Lost:
- Step 1: Insert the emergency key into the driver’s door lock and turn it to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds.
- Step 2: The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display “Remote Learn Pending. Please Wait.”
- Step 3: Wait 10 minutes until the DIC shows “Press Engine Start Button to Learn,” then press the ignition button.
- Step 4: The DIC will again show “Remote Learn Pending. Please Wait.”
- Step 5: Repeat Step 3 two more times (three cycles total). After the third cycle, the DIC will display “Ready For Remote #1.”
- Step 6: Remove the cupholder insert from the center console to access the transmitter pocket, located beneath the cupholder.
- Step 7: Place the new remote into the pocket and press the ignition button.
- Step 8: When the remote is accepted, the DIC will show “Ready For Remote #2.”
- Step 9: Remove the remote and press the Unlock button.
- Step 10: Repeat Steps 6–9 for any additional smart keys.
- Step 11: Once all remotes are programmed, press and hold the ignition button for 5 seconds to exit programming mode.
B. If You Have One Working Smart Key and Want to Add Another:
- Step 1: Place the existing, programmed smart key in the front cupholder.
- Step 2: Insert the emergency key from the new transmitter into the driver’s door lock and turn it to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds.
- Step 3: The DIC will display “Ready For Remote #2, 3, 4 or 5.”
- Step 4: Remove the cupholder insert and place the new smart key into the transmitter pocket beneath it.
- Step 5: Press the ignition button. When the remote is accepted, the DIC will display readiness for the next transmitter.
- Step 6: Remove the key from the pocket and press the Unlock button.
- Step 7: Repeat Steps 4–6 to add additional smart keys.
- Step 8: When finished, press and hold the ignition button for 5 seconds to exit programming mode.
