Programming Guide for 2012 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: This vehicle does not support onboard programming if all keys or remotes are lost. In such situations, a technician using specialized diagnostic equipment is required to perform remote fob or smart key programming.
Flip Key Programming – Adding a New Key with One Working Key Present:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat and ensure all doors are completely closed.
- Step 2: Insert the working flip key into the ignition.
- Step 3: Turn the ignition to the ON/RUN position and wait a few seconds.
- Step 4: Turn the key back to the OFF position and remove it.
- Step 5: Within five seconds, insert the new flip key into the ignition.
- Step 6: Turn the new key to the ON/RUN position.
- Step 7: Wait until the security light turns off. This indicates the new key has been successfully programmed.
- Step 8: Remove the new key and test it by starting the vehicle.
- Step 9: Repeat Steps 2 through 8 to program any additional keys.
- Step 10: Ensure each programmed key can start the vehicle before finishing.
Smart Key Programming – All Keys Lost (For vehicles equipped with keyless start systems):
- Step 1: Sit in the vehicle and close all doors.
- Step 2: Use the emergency key inside the remote to unlock the driver’s door by turning it to the unlock position five times within ten seconds.
- Step 3: The instrument panel will display: ""Remote Learn Pending. Please Wait.""
- Step 4: Wait for approximately 10 minutes until the message changes to: ""Press Engine Start Button to Learn.""
- Step 5: Press the ignition button once. The system will return to the pending message.
- Step 6: Repeat Step 5 two more times, waiting for the same 10-minute prompt each time.
- Step 7: After the third cycle, the display will show: ""Ready for Remote #1.""
- Step 8: Remove the cupholder insert in the center console to access the transmitter pocket.
- Step 9: Place the new smart key into the transmitter pocket.
- Step 10: Press the ignition button to confirm pairing.
- Step 11: Once accepted, the display will change to ""Ready for Remote #2.""
- Step 12: Remove the remote and press the unlock button to finalize registration.
- Step 13: Repeat Steps 9 through 12 for each additional remote.
- Step 14: Once all remotes have been added, press and hold the ignition button for five seconds to exit programming mode.
- Step 15: Test each programmed remote for lock/unlock and push-button start.
Smart Key Programming – Adding a Remote with One Recognized Remote Present: (For keyless access vehicles only)
- Step 1: Sit in the vehicle with all doors closed and place the working smart key in the front cupholder.
- Step 2: Remove the emergency key from the new smart key fob.
- Step 3: Insert the emergency key into the driver’s door lock and turn it to the unlock position five times within ten seconds.
- Step 4: The display will show: ""Ready for Remote #2,"" or the next available remote number.
- Step 5: Remove the cupholder insert in the center console to access the transmitter pocket.
- Step 6: Insert the new smart key into the transmitter pocket.
- Step 7: Press the ignition button. When accepted, the system will display the next remote number.
- Step 8: Remove the new remote and press the unlock button to confirm registration.
- Step 9: Repeat Steps 6 through 8 to add any additional remotes.
- Step 10: After completing all additions, press and hold the ignition button for five seconds to exit programming mode.
- Step 11: Verify all remotes can lock/unlock the vehicle and start the engine before concluding.
