Programming Guide for 2013 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: This vehicle supports programming of smart key fobs with or without a recognized transmitter. When no working remote is available, programming requires approximately 30 minutes. The procedures below will guide you based on your current access to recognized transmitters.

Programming a Remote – With One Recognized Transmitter Present:

  • Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is turned off and all remotes (both recognized and new) are with you.
  • Step 2: Remove the emergency key from the recognized transmitter.
  • Step 3: Place the working transmitter in the front cupholder.
  • Step 4: Remove the cap covering the driver’s side door lock cylinder.
  • Step 5: Insert the emergency key into the door lock and turn it counterclockwise to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds.
  • Step 6: The instrument panel will display: “Ready to Learn Electronic Key #2, 3, 4, etc.”
  • Step 7: Open the center console storage compartment to access the transmitter pocket.
  • Step 8: Insert the new transmitter into the pocket with the buttons facing up.
  • Step 9: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The new transmitter will be registered.
  • Step 10: Remove the transmitter and press either the lock or unlock button to confirm programming.
  • Step 11: Repeat Steps 8 through 10 to add additional remotes as needed.
  • Step 12: Once all remotes are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 13: Reinsert the emergency key into each transmitter.

Programming a Remote – Without a Recognized Transmitter: (Approximate completion time: 30 minutes)

  • Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is turned off and gather all remotes you wish to program.
  • Step 2: Remove the emergency key from one of the new transmitters.
  • Step 3: Remove the cap from the driver’s door lock cylinder.
  • Step 4: Insert the emergency key into the lock and turn it counterclockwise to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds.
  • Step 5: The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display: “Remote Learn Pending. Please Wait.”
  • Step 6: Wait approximately 10 minutes until the message changes to: “Press Engine Start Button to Learn.”
  • Step 7: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The system will return to the pending message.
  • Step 8: Repeat Step 7 two more times. After the third 10-minute cycle, all previously programmed remotes will be erased.
  • Step 9: The DIC will then display: “Ready for Remote #1.”
  • Step 10: Open the center console and access the transmitter pocket.
  • Step 11: Place the new transmitter into the pocket with buttons facing up.
  • Step 12: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button to program the remote.
  • Step 13: Remove the transmitter and press the lock or unlock button to confirm.
  • Step 14: Repeat Steps 11 through 13 for each additional remote.
  • Step 15: After programming all remotes, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 16: Reinsert the emergency key into each transmitter.
