2013 Honda Insight – Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: The 2013 Honda Insight does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. All remote fobs must be programmed using professional diagnostic tools by a trained technician who can access the vehicle’s security system.

Programming Procedure

  • Step 1: Arrange for service with an automotive technician who is experienced in programming smart key systems. Ensure they use the proper equipment capable of accessing the electronic control modules of your vehicle.
  • Step 2: If the vehicle is drivable, consider bringing it directly to the technician’s location. This may lower your overall cost by avoiding additional travel charges often associated with on-site visits.
  • Step 3: Take all smart key fobs with you. During the programming session, any previously registered remotes may be erased. To maintain access, each fob you intend to use must be reprogrammed during this visit.
  • Step 4: Once at the service location, the technician will connect a diagnostic interface to the vehicle’s OBD-II port, which allows direct access to the vehicle’s immobilizer and remote entry systems.
  • Step 5: Using this interface, the technician will initiate the key registration process. Each smart key will be electronically linked to the vehicle, allowing full functionality such as remote locking, unlocking, and push-button start, if equipped.
