Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:
Programming a Spare Intelligent Access Key You must have two previously programmed Intelligent Access Keys inside the vehicle, and the new unprogrammed key readily accessible. If you only have one or no working keys, a professional will need to program the spare key(s) using specialized equipment.
Important Notes: You can program up to four Intelligent Access Keys to your vehicle. If four keys are already programmed, a professional must erase one to add a new key. All steps must be completed within 30 seconds of starting the sequence. If a step is missed, wait at least one minute before starting over. Keep all vehicle doors closed during the procedure. Read all steps before beginning.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Open the center console utility compartment lid.
- Step 2: Insert the new unprogrammed Intelligent Access Key into the backup slot inside the console. Ensure the buttons face down and the key ring faces up.
- Step 3: Press the driver or passenger power door UNLOCK button three times.
- Step 4: Press and release the brake pedal once.
- Step 5: Press the driver or passenger power door LOCK button three times.
- Step 6: Press and release the brake pedal again. The Start/Stop button indicator should begin to flash rapidly, confirming programming mode is active and two valid keys are detected.
- Step 7: Within one minute, press the Start/Stop button once. If four keys are already programmed, the message ""MAX # OF FOBS LEARNED"" will display on the instrument cluster.
- Step 8: Remove the new key from the console pocket.
- Step 9: Press the UNLOCK button on the newly programmed Intelligent Access Key to exit programming mode.
- Step 10: Test the remote by pressing LOCK and then UNLOCK. Ensure both functions work.
- Step 11: Start the engine using the newly programmed Intelligent Access Key to verify successful programming. If programming fails: Wait 10 seconds, then repeat steps 1 through 11.
