Programming Guide for 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer Keyless Entry Remote Fob (Smart Key)

Important Notice: This vehicle requires specialized diagnostic tools to program the keyless entry remote fob and smart key. The procedure involves programming both the key portion and the remote head key, and should be performed by a qualified technician with the necessary equipment.

Programming the Key Portion of Your Remote Head Key

  • Step 1: Obtain a Cut Key Before starting, ensure that the key portion of your remote head key is properly cut by a professional service.
  • Step 2: Insert the First Working Key Insert an existing working key into the ignition cylinder.
  • Step 3: Turn the Ignition On and Off Turn the ignition to the ON position (without starting the engine) for 5 seconds. Then turn it back to the OFF position and remove the key.
  • Step 4: Insert the Second Working Key Within 10 seconds, insert a second working key and turn it to the ON position. The security light will flash twice. Turn the ignition back to OFF and remove the key.
  • Step 5: Insert the New (Unprogrammed) Key Within 10 seconds of removing the second key, insert the new, unprogrammed key and turn the ignition to the ON position.
  • Step 6: Confirmation of Programming The security light will stay on for 3 seconds, indicating the new key has been successfully programmed.
  • Step 7: Test the New Key Turn the ignition to the OFF position and remove the new key. If necessary, repeat steps 4 and 5 to program additional keys. All new keys must be programmed within 30 seconds of removing the second key.
  • Step 8: Exit Programming Mode Leave the ignition in the ON position for more than 30 seconds to exit programming mode.

Programming the Remote Portion of Your Remote Head Key

  • Step 1: Locate the Data Port Find the data port under the driver’s side dashboard, usually located to the right of the steering column.
  • Step 2: Insert Keys into Ignition Insert the keys into the ignition and leave them in the OFF position.
  • Step 3: Connect the Jumper Wire Ensure that metal contact pins are present in terminals 1 and 4. Connect these terminals using a suitable jumper wire, and leave the wire connected throughout the procedure. Be sure you know which terminals are 1 and 4.
  • Step 4: Activate Programming Mode Within 10 seconds of connecting the jumper wire, press the hazard switch 6 times. The doors will lock and unlock once, indicating that the system is in programming mode.
  • Step 5: Register the Remote Press the LOCK button on the remote to be programmed three times within 10 seconds. The doors will lock and unlock once, indicating successful programming.
  • Step 6: Program Additional Remotes Repeat step 5 for up to 4 remotes (including any existing remotes) within one minute. After each successful programming, the doors will lock and unlock once.
  • Step 7: Disconnect the Jumper Wire Disconnect the jumper wire and remove the keys from the ignition to complete the procedure.

Programming New F.A.S.T.-Keys (With Two Valid Keys)

  • Step 1: Remove the Emergency Key Remove the emergency key from the F.A.S.T.-key.
  • Step 2: Remove the Ignition Switch Cover While pressing the lock release buttons, remove the cover from the ignition switch.
  • Step 3: Insert the Emergency Key Insert the emergency key into the ignition switch. Step 4: Insert the F.A.S.T.-Key Insert the already programmed F.A.S.T.-key into the emergency key.
  • Step 5: Turn to the ON Position Turn the emergency key along with the F.A.S.T.-key to the ON position. Perform the following steps within 30 seconds.
  • Step 6: Remove the F.A.S.T.-Key Remove the F.A.S.T.-key from the emergency key.
  • Step 7: Program the First Valid F.A.S.T.-Key With the first valid F.A.S.T.-key, press the UNLOCK button for 4 to 10 seconds, then press the LOCK button while holding the UNLOCK button.
  • Step 8: Release the Buttons Release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons within 10 seconds after pressing the LOCK button in step 7.
  • Step 9: Program the Second Valid F.A.S.T.-Key With the second valid F.A.S.T.-key, repeat step 7 and release the buttons as in step 8. The immobilizer display will blink on the information screen.
  • Step 10: Program the Blank F.A.S.T.-Key Press the LOCK button twice on the blank F.A.S.T.-key. The immobilizer display will remain on for 30 seconds.
  • Step 11: Completion This completes the registration of the F.A.S.T.-key. Important Notes: Indicator Light: The indicator light will illuminate each time a button is pressed during the programming process.
