2013 Scion xD Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 2013 Scion xD does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Remote pairing must be completed by a trained automotive technician using specialized diagnostic tools.
Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Contact a certified automotive technician or authorized service provider who has the proper tools and training to program electronic key fobs.
- Step 2: Confirm that the technician is experienced with smart key systems and has access to the necessary diagnostic equipment to communicate with your vehicle’s onboard systems.
- Step 3: If the vehicle is fully operational, consider driving it to the service provider. Doing so can help reduce labor or service call fees compared to requesting mobile service.
- Step 4: If you still have any working remotes, bring them with you. Some vehicle systems may require all remotes to be present during programming to keep them active.
- Step 5: Be prepared to present valid proof of vehicle ownership—such as a title or registration—especially if no keys are currently available.
- Step 6: The technician will connect professional diagnostic tools to the vehicle’s onboard computer system to initiate the remote fob programming process.
- Step 7: The new smart key remote fob will be securely programmed to the vehicle’s electronic control unit, enabling keyless entry and, if applicable, push-button start functionality.
- Step 8: After programming, the technician will verify that all remote functions (lock, unlock, and ignition if equipped) are working as expected.
- Step 9: Confirm that any previously programmed remotes are still operational. If not, they may need to be reprogrammed during the same session.
- Step 10: If possible, request a backup key fob to be programmed at the same time to avoid inconvenience in the future.
