2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: The 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek uses a Smart Key system that does not support manual or onboard programming. Programming a new Smart Key remote fob must be performed by a qualified technician using specialized diagnostic tools.

Programming Procedure (Requires Professional Equipment)

• Step 1: Ensure the Smart Key fob you are using is compatible with the 2013 XV Crosstrek. This includes matching the correct FCC ID, frequency, and button configuration.
• Step 2: Schedule an appointment with a professional automotive technician or service provider who has access to Subaru-compatible programming tools (such as the Subaru Select Monitor).
• Step 3: Drive the vehicle to the service location if possible. If the vehicle is not operational, arrangements may need to be made for mobile service or towing.
• Step 4: The technician will connect a scan tool to the vehicle’s OBD-II port and access the Body Control Module (BCM) to begin the Smart Key registration process.
• Step 5: Once in registration mode, the technician will follow on-screen prompts to program the new Smart Key fob: Each Smart Key is electronically paired with the vehicle Functional tests will be performed for locking/unlocking and push-button start
• Step 6: If any previous Smart Keys are lost or missing, they can be removed from the system during this process for added security.
