2014 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob and Ignition Key – LaCrosse
Important Overview: The 2014 Buick LaCrosse may be equipped with either a traditional key ignition or a smart key (Keyless Access) system. Each system has different procedures depending on whether a working key or transmitter is available.
SECTION 1: Ignition Key Programming – Traditional Key Models
A. Programming with One Working Key:
- Step 1: Insert the currently programmed key into the ignition and turn it to the ON/RUN position.
- Step 2: Turn the ignition back to OFF and remove the key.
- Step 3: Within five seconds, insert the new key and turn it to the ON/RUN position.
- Step 4: Wait until the security light turns off, confirming the key has been successfully programmed.
- Step 5: Repeat Steps 1–4 for each additional key you wish to program.
B. Programming Without Any Working Keys: This process takes approximately 30 minutes and must be completed in full to initialize a new key when no recognized key is available.
- Step 1: Insert the new key into the ignition and turn it to the ON/RUN position. The security light will illuminate.
- Step 2: Wait 10 minutes until the security light turns off.
- Step 3: Turn the key to the OFF position.
- Step 4: Repeat Steps 1–3 two more times (three 10-minute cycles total).
- Step 5: After the third cycle, turn the key to the ON/RUN position. The key is now programmed.
- Step 6: To program additional keys, follow the steps listed in Section 1A.
SECTION 2: Smart Key Fob Programming – Keyless Access Models
A. Programming with One Recognized Transmitter:
- Step 1: Place the recognized transmitter in the cupholder.
- Step 2: Insert the key from the new transmitter into the driver’s door lock and turn it to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds.
- Step 3: The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display “Ready For Remote #2, 3, 4 or 5.”
- Step 4: Place the new transmitter into the transmitter pocket, located inside the armrest storage compartment.
- Step 5: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC will confirm the transmitter has been accepted.
- Step 6: Remove the remote and press the Unlock button.
- Step 7: Repeat Steps 4–6 to program additional transmitters.
- Step 8: When all remotes are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
B. Programming Without Any Recognized Transmitters: This process will take approximately 30 minutes and allows programming of up to eight transmitters.
- Step 1: Insert the emergency key from the new transmitter into the driver’s door lock and turn it to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds.
- Step 2: The DIC will display “Remote Learn Pending. Please Wait.”
- Step 3: After 10 minutes, the DIC will display “Press Engine Start Button to Learn.” Press the ENGINE START/STOP button.
- Step 4: The DIC will again show “Remote Learn Pending. Please Wait.”
- Step 5: Repeat Step 3 two more times for a total of three 10-minute cycles.
- Step 6: After the third cycle, the DIC will display “Ready For Remote #1.”
- Step 7: Place the new transmitter into the transmitter pocket inside the armrest storage area.
- Step 8: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC will confirm when the remote is accepted.
- Step 9: Remove the transmitter and press the Unlock button.
- Step 10: Repeat Steps 7–9 to program additional transmitters.
- Step 11: When complete, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
