This process takes about 30 minutes. <ul> <li>Step 1: Insert a new flip key into the ignition and turn it to the ON/RUN position. The security light should illuminate. </li> <li>Step 2: Leave the key in the ON/RUN position until the security light turns off. This may take around 10 minutes. </li> <li>Step 3: Turn the ignition back to the OFF position and wait a few seconds. </li> <li>Step 4: Repeat Steps 1 through 3 two more times, for a total of three 10-minute cycles. </li> <li>Step 5: After the third cycle, turn the ignition to the ON/RUN position again. The security light should remain off, indicating the new key has been learned. Any previously programmed keys will now be erased. </li> <li>Step 6: Use the next section below to add additional keys if needed. </li> </ul> If You Have One Working Flip Key and Want to Add Another If you currently have a programmed key, follow these steps to add another without professional tools. <ul> <li>Step 1: Insert the working flip key into the ignition and turn it to the ON/RUN position until the dashboard lights activate. </li> <li>Step 2: Turn the ignition to OFF and remove the key. </li> <li>Step 3: Within five seconds, insert the new key and turn it to the ON/RUN position. </li> <li>Step 4: Wait for the security light to turn off. This confirms the new key has been successfully programmed. </li> <li>Step 5: Repeat this procedure for each additional key you want to add.</li> </ul> If You Have a Recognized Smart Transmitter (Smart Key Models) If your vehicle uses a smart key system, use the following method to program additional transmitters: <ul> <li>Step 1: Place a recognized transmitter inside the vehicle. </li> <li>Step 2: Insert the new transmitter into the console slot or place it near the transmitter detection zone. </li> <li>Step 3: Follow the on-screen prompts in the Driver Information Center or follow the button instructions on the dashboard. </li> <li>Step 4: When finished, test all remote functions to verify that each transmitter is properly programmed.
