This procedure requires two existing, programmed Intelligent Access Keys to be inside the vehicle, along with the new unprogrammed key. If two working keys are not available, programming must be performed by a professional using diagnostic equipment. Make sure the vehicle is off, and that all doors are closed throughout the procedure. Perform all steps within 30 seconds of starting. If you make a mistake, wait at least one minute before beginning again. Step-by-Step Smart Key Programming Procedure: <ul> <li>Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is turned off and all doors are fully closed. </li> <li>Step 2: Place the new, unprogrammed Intelligent Access Key in the backup slot located inside the glove box. </li> <li>Step 3: Press the power unlock button on the driver or passenger door three times. </li> <li>Step 4: Press and release the brake pedal once. </li> <li>Step 5: Press the power lock button on the driver or passenger door three times. </li> <li>Step 6: Press and release the brake pedal once again. The START/STOP button indicator should begin to flash rapidly, indicating the vehicle has entered programming mode and two valid keys are detected. </li> <li>Step 7: Within one minute, press the START/STOP button once. If programming is successful, a confirmation message will appear on the instrument panel. If the vehicle already has four keys stored, the message “MAX # OF FOBS LEARNED” will be displayed. </li> <li>Step 8: Remove the newly programmed key from the glove box slot. </li> <li>Step 9: Press the lock or unlock button on the new key to exit programming mode. </li> <li>Step 10: Verify that the key is functioning correctly by: Locking and unlocking the doors using the remote buttons Starting the vehicle using push-button ignition Testing any additional smart key features</li> </ul>
