Programming Instructions for the 2014 Scion iQ Smart Key Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 2014 Scion iQ does not support onboard programming for its smart key remote fob. All programming must be performed by a qualified technician using specialized diagnostic equipment.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Verify Remote Compatibility Ensure that the replacement smart key is designed specifically for the 2014 Scion iQ. Mismatched remotes will not pair with the vehicle’s system.
  • Step 2: Contact a Certified Technician or Service Center Locate a qualified automotive technician or service provider that can program Toyota/Scion smart key systems using the proper tools.
  • Step 3: Evaluate Transportation Options If the vehicle can be driven, it is usually more affordable to visit the technician’s location rather than requesting mobile service.
  • Step 4: Access the Vehicle’s Programming System The technician will connect to the vehicle’s onboard diagnostic port (OBD-II) using factory-grade equipment to initiate the programming process.
  • Step 5: Program the Smart Key Following system prompts, the technician will register the new smart key to the vehicle’s electronic control module. Some models may require all existing remotes to be present.
