2015 BMW 6 Series – Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: The 2015 BMW 6 Series does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Programming must be completed using BMW-approved diagnostic equipment by a certified technician or authorized dealer.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Ensure that the replacement smart key fob is fully compatible with the 2015 BMW 6 Series. Using an incorrect fob may prevent successful programming or limit its functionality.
  • Step 2: Schedule an appointment with a certified technician or authorized BMW service center that has access to the proper diagnostic software and programming tools.
  • Step 3: Confirm whether all currently programmed remotes must be present during the session. Some BMW systems require reprogramming of all remotes at the same time, and any fob not included may be erased from memory.
  • Step 4: If the vehicle is operable, consider driving it to the service location. This may reduce potential fees associated with on-site programming services.
  • Step 5: At the service center, the technician will connect BMW-specific diagnostic equipment to the vehicle’s onboard diagnostic port to initiate the programming process.
