2015 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 2015 BMW X6 is not equipped for onboard key fob programming. Smart key remotes must be programmed by a certified automotive technician or authorized dealer using advanced diagnostic tools.

  • Step 1: Determine whether you're replacing a lost key fob or adding an additional one. Most systems require that all remotes be programmed together during the same session.
  • Step 2: Schedule an appointment with a certified technician or authorized dealer who is equipped with BMW-compatible programming tools.
  • Step 3: Bring all working remotes with you to the service appointment. Any remotes not present during programming may be erased from the vehicle’s system.
  • Step 4: If the vehicle is still operable, it may be more cost-effective to drive it to the service provider rather than request mobile service.
  • Step 5: If no working key fobs are available, be prepared to show valid proof of ownership—such as a vehicle registration or title—before the technician can begin.
  • Step 6: The technician will connect specialized diagnostic equipment to the vehicle’s onboard interface to access the keyless entry system.
  • Step 7: The new smart key will be securely programmed into the vehicle’s electronic system, allowing it to operate locking, unlocking, and ignition functions.
  • Step 8: After programming, the technician will test the fob to verify successful operation of all essential features.
  • Step 9: You should also test the remote yourself, ensuring that trunk release, panic alarm, proximity unlocking, and any remote start function are working properly.
  • Step 10: If additional remotes are being programmed, they must be added during the same session—usually within 30 seconds of one another—to ensure successful synchronization.
