Important Notice:

The 2015 Regal includes two key types: Flip Key (Standard Key Ignition) Smart Key (Keyless Access with Push-Button Start) The instructions below cover both systems and explain what to do if you have a recognized key/transmitter or no working keys at all.

Flip Key Ignition System Programming with a Recognized Key:

  • Step 1: Insert a currently programmed key into the ignition.
  • Step 2: Turn the key to the ON/RUN position (without starting the engine).
  • Step 3: Turn the key to the OFF position and remove it.
  • Step 4: Within five seconds, insert the new key to be programmed.

  • Step 7: Repeat the steps for any additional keys to be programmed.
  • Step 8: Test each key to ensure the engine starts and remote functions operate correctly.

Programming without a Recognized Key (No Working Keys Available): This method takes approximately 30 minutes and can be used when all keys are lost.

  • Step 5: After the third 10-minute cycle, turn the ignition back to ON/RUN. → The key is now learned, and all previously programmed keys have been erased.
  • Step 6: To program additional keys, follow the steps under the “recognized key” section above.

Smart Key System (Keyless Access with Push-Button Start) Programming with a Recognized Transmitter:

  • Step 1: Place the working (recognized) transmitter in the center console cupholder pocket. (Remove the rubber liner to access the transmitter pocket.)
  • Step 2: Use the emergency key from the new transmitter to turn the driver’s door lock to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. → The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display: ""Ready for Remote #2,"" or the next available number.

Additional Considerations:

Maximum Capacity: The system supports up to eight keys or transmitters.

Battery Reminder: Always confirm that all remotes and keys have working batteries before starting.

Timing is Critical: Ensure steps are followed precisely within the specified time frames.

System Reset: When programming without a recognized device, all previously stored keys and remotes will be erased.
