Programming Guide for 2015 Volvo V40 Keyless Entry Remote Fob (Smart Key)

Important Notice: This vehicle does not support onboard programming for keyless entry remote fobs. Programming requires specialized diagnostic equipment and must be performed by a qualified technician.

Programming Procedure

  • Step 1: Locate a Qualified Professional Find a certified automotive technician or service provider who is equipped to program smart key remote fobs for your vehicle.
  • Step 2: Consider Cost-Effective Options If your vehicle is still drivable, it may save you money by driving it to the technician’s location instead of having them come to you. This can often be a more affordable option.
  • Step 3: Prepare All Key Fobs Ensure you have all current and new key fobs ready for programming. Some systems may require all existing fobs to be present during the programming process.
  • Step 4: Provide Proof of Ownership The technician may ask for proof of ownership, such as your vehicle registration or title, to verify that you are authorized to program the key fobs.
  • Step 5: Connect to the Vehicle’s System The technician will connect specialized diagnostic equipment to your vehicle’s system. This equipment will securely access your vehicle's security system to begin the programming process.
  • Step 6: Programming the Smart Key Remote Fob Using the diagnostic equipment, the technician will program the new remote fob to your vehicle’s system, ensuring it functions properly and is securely paired.
  • Step 7: Test the Programmed Fob Once the programming is complete, the technician will test the newly programmed remote fob to ensure it works correctly with your vehicle, including testing the remote entry and keyless start features.
  • Step 8: Program Additional Fobs (If Needed) If additional key fobs need to be programmed, the technician will repeat the process for each one. All fobs should be programmed in the same session to ensure they sync properly with your vehicle’s system.
