Important Notice: The 2016 BMW 6 Series does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. All key fob programming must be completed by a certified automotive technician or authorized dealer using BMW-specific diagnostic tools.

• Step 1: Confirm that the replacement smart key fob is specifically compatible with the 2016 BMW 6 Series. Using a non-matching or incorrect fob may lead to failed programming or limited functionality.

• Step 3: Ask whether all existing key fobs must be present. Some BMW systems require reprogramming of all remotes at once, and any fobs not included in the session may be deactivated.
