2016 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: This vehicle does not support onboard programming for smart key fobs. A certified automotive technician or authorized dealer with specialized diagnostic tools is required to complete the programming.
- Step 1: Identify whether you are replacing a lost key fob or adding a new one. Some systems may require all remotes to be reprogrammed during the same session to ensure proper functionality.
- Step 2: Schedule an appointment with a certified automotive technician or authorized dealer who has the proper equipment and expertise to perform the programming.
- Step 3: Bring all working key fobs with you to the appointment. Any remotes not present during programming may be excluded from the system and will no longer work.
- Step 4: If the vehicle is operational, driving it to the technician’s location may be more cost-effective than having them come to you for mobile service.
- Step 5: If no functioning remotes are available, you will need to provide proof of ownership, such as the vehicle title or registration, before the technician can proceed with programming.
- Step 6: The technician will connect specialized diagnostic equipment to your vehicle’s onboard system in order to program and integrate the new smart key fob.
- Step 7: After the new key fob is programmed, the technician will verify its functionality by testing all essential features, including locking, unlocking, and starting the vehicle.
- Step 8: Once programming is complete, ensure that all other functions of the key fob, such as trunk release and panic alarm, work as expected.
- Step 9: If programming additional remotes, repeat the process for each one within the prescribed time (usually 30 seconds per fob).
- Step 10: After confirming that all remotes work correctly, finalize the process and ensure that the fobs are fully integrated with the vehicle's system.
