2016 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 2016 Buick Cascada requires a specific procedure for programming smart key remotes. Depending on whether you have a programmed key or not, the process will differ.

Programming with a Programmed Remote: To program a new key when you already have a programmed remote:

  • Step 1: Insert the original, already programmed key into the ignition and turn it to the ON/RUN position.
  • Step 2: Turn the key to the LOCK/OFF position and remove it from the ignition.
  • Step 3: Insert the new key to be programmed and turn it to the ON/RUN position within five seconds. The security light will turn off once the key has been successfully programmed.
  • Step 4: If you need to program additional keys, repeat Steps 1–3.

Programming Without a Programmed Remote: If you do not have a currently programmed key, you must follow this procedure.

Note: In Canada, you are required to visit your dealer for this process. The following procedure takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and requires that all keys you wish to program be present.

  • Step 1: Insert the new key into the ignition.
  • Step 2: Turn the key to the ON/RUN position. The security light will come on.
  • Step 3: Wait 10 minutes until the security light turns off.
  • Step 4: Turn the ignition to the LOCK/OFF position.
  • Step 5: Repeat Steps 2–4 two more times. After the third time, turn the key to the ON/RUN position; the key is now programmed.
  • Step 6: Important: All previously programmed keys will no longer work with the vehicle after this procedure. They must be reprogrammed using the process in the ""Programming with a Programmed Remote"" section.
