<h1>2016 GMC Yukon Smart Key Remote Programming Instructions</h1> <p><font size="3"><b>Important Notice:</b> The 2016 GMC Yukon does not support onboard programming if it has a separate key and remote fob. In such configurations, a technician using diagnostic equipment is required to program the key fob. However, if your Yukon is equipped with the smart key system and you have at least one recognized transmitter, you can program additional fobs using the following methods. </font></p> <p><b><font size="3">If You Have One Recognized Smart Remote</font></b></p> <p><font size="3"> You may program an additional remote fob using the steps below. Make sure the vehicle is off and that all remotes (recognized and new) are present. </font></p> <p><font size="3"><b>Step-by-Step Instructions:</b> </font></p> <ul> <li><font size="3">Step 1: Remove the key blade from the working smart remote. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 2: Place the working smart remote in the cupholder or on the front passenger seat. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 3: Insert the mechanical key into the driver door lock cylinder. Turn the key to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds.</font></li> <li><font size="3"> Step 4: On the dashboard, the Driver Information Center (DIC) should display: "Ready for Remote #2". </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 5: Open the center console and remove the tray to access the remote pocket/insert. Place the new remote in this pocket. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 6: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. The new remote will be programmed, and the DIC will indicate readiness for the next fob. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 7: Remove the new remote from the pocket. Press either the Lock or Unlock button to confirm successful programming.</font></li> <li><font size="3"> Step 8: To add more remotes, repeat Steps 5 through 7. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 9: After programming is complete, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode.</font></li> <li><font size="3"> Step 10: Reinsert the key blade into the smart remote. </font></li> </ul> <p><b><font size="3">If No Recognized Smart Remote Is Available</font></b></p> <p><font size="3"> If no programmed remotes are available, follow the long-learn procedure to enroll up to eight new remotes. </font></p> <p><font size="3"><b>Long-Learn Programming Procedure:</b> </font></p> <ul> <li><font size="3">Step 1: Remove the mechanical key from one of the new smart remotes. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 2: Insert the key into the driver door lock and turn it to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 3: The DIC will display: "Remote Learn Pending, Please Wait". </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 4: Wait for 10 minutes. Once the message changes to "Press Engine Start Button to Learn", press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 5: Repeat Step 4 two more times for a total of three 10-minute cycles. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 6: After the third cycle, the message "Ready for Remote #1" will appear. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 7: Place the new remote in the remote pocket (located in the center console in front of the storage tray). </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 8: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The remote will be learned. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 9: Remove the remote and press Lock or Unlock to confirm registration. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 10: Repeat Steps 7 through 9 for any additional remotes. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 11: Once done, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 12: Reinsert the key blade into each remote.</font></li> </ul>
