Programming must be performed using diagnostic tools by a qualified automotive professional. Programming Procedure If Your Yukon Has a Separate Key and Remote: his configuration cannot be programmed manually. <ul> <li> Step 1: Schedule service with an experienced automotive or GM-certified technician. </li> <li>Step 2: If the vehicle is operational, consider bringing it to the service provider to potentially reduce mobile service fees. </li> <li>Step 3: A professional will use specialized programming equipment to pair the remote with the vehicle’s onboard system.</li> </ul> If You Have One Working Smart Key: You can add a new fob if you have one functional smart key available. All keys must be present during this procedure. <ul> <li>Step 1: Remove the emergency key from the working remote. </li> <li>Step 2: Place the working remote in the cupholder or on the passenger seat. </li> <li>Step 3: Insert the vehicle key into the driver door lock cylinder and turn it counterclockwise to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The DIC will display: "READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4, ETC." </li> <li>Step 4: Place the new fob in the programming pocket inside the center console storage compartment, just in front of the storage tray. </li> <li>Step 5: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC will confirm when the remote has been recognized. </li> <li>Step 6: Remove the new remote and press the LOCK or UNLOCK button to finalize programming. Repeat Steps 4–6 for any additional remotes. </li> <li>Step 7: To exit programming mode, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds. </li> <li>Step 8: Reinsert the key into the newly programmed remote.</li> </ul> If No Recognized Smart Keys Are Available: This method allows programming of up to eight fobs but requires approximately 30 minutes to complete. All remotes must be present during the procedure. <ul> <li> Step 1: Remove the key from the remote. </li> <li>Step 2: Insert the key into the driver door lock and turn it counterclockwise to unlock five times within 10 seconds. The DIC will show: "REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT." </li> <li>Step 3: Wait 10 minutes until prompted, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. </li> <li>Step 4: Repeat Step 3 two more times. After the third cycle, all previous fobs will be erased, and the DIC will display: "READY FOR REMOTE #1." </li> <li>Step 5: Place the new remote in the center console programming pocket. </li> <li>Step 6: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. Once learned, the DIC will indicate readiness for the next remote. </li> <li>Step 7: Remove the remote and press LOCK or UNLOCK to confirm. Repeat Steps 5–7 for each additional remote. </li> <li>Step 8: Press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode. </li> <li>Step 9: Return the key to the remote body. </li> </ul> Additional Considerations: <ul> <li> Proof of Ownership: If all keys are lost, be prepared to provide the vehicle title or registration for programming authorization. </li> <li>Qualification: Ensure the service provider has experience with GM proximity key systems to avoid compatibility issues.
