<h1>2016 Lincoln MKS Intelligent Access Key (Smart Key with Push-Button Start)</h1> <p><font size="3"><b>Important Information:</b> A maximum of four Intelligent Access Keys can be programmed to your vehicle. This process requires two existing, working Intelligent Access Keys and one new, unprogrammed key. If fewer than two programmed keys are available, programming must be performed by a qualified technician using specialized diagnostic equipment. Make sure the vehicle is off and that all doors remain closed throughout the process. Complete all steps within 30 seconds. If any step is performed out of sequence or delayed, wait at least one minute before starting over. </font></p> <p><font size="3"><b>Step-by-Step Smart Key Programming Procedure:</b></font></p> <ul> <li><font size="3">Step 1: Ensure you are seated in the vehicle with all doors closed and no foot on the brake pedal. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 2: Locate the backup slot, which is found inside the glove compartment.</font></li> <li><font size="3"> Step 3: Insert the first programmed Intelligent Access Key into the backup slot with the buttons facing up. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 4: Press the START/STOP button once (do not press the brake pedal). The ignition will turn on in accessory mode. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 5: Wait for five seconds. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 6: Press the START/STOP button again to turn the ignition off. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 7: Remove the first programmed key from the slot. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 8: Within 10 seconds, place the second programmed Intelligent Access Key into the backup slot. Step 9: Press the START/STOP button once to turn on the ignition.</font></li> <li><font size="3"> Step 10: Wait for five seconds. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 11: Press the START/STOP button again to turn the ignition off. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 12: Remove the second programmed key from the slot. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 13: Place the new, unprogrammed Intelligent Access Key into the backup slot. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 14: Press the START/STOP button once. If programming is successful, the new key will be added to the vehicle&rsquo;s memory.</font></li> <li><font size="3"> Step 15: Remove the new key from the slot. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 16: Press the lock or unlock button on the new key to confirm programming mode has exited. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 17: Test the new Intelligent Access Key to ensure: It starts the vehicle using the push-button ignition. It can lock and unlock the doors via remote. All other remote functions are operating as expected. If the key was not programmed successfully, wait 10 seconds, then repeat the entire process from Step 1.</font></li> </ul>
