Smart Key Remote Programming Guide – 2017 Genesis G90
Important Information: The 2017 Genesis G90 does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Programming must be performed by a trained technician using specialized diagnostic equipment.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Contact a certified automotive technician or authorized service provider who has experience programming smart key systems and access to the appropriate diagnostic tools.
- Step 2: Confirm that the technician uses vehicle-compatible equipment capable of securely interfacing with your car’s onboard electronic control unit.
- Step 3: If the vehicle is drivable, consider bringing it directly to the service location to reduce potential costs associated with mobile service.
- Step 4: Schedule an appointment in advance to ensure availability and verify that the provider has the necessary tools for your specific vehicle model.
- Step 5: Bring all current smart keys with you. Some systems require that all remotes be programmed at the same time to ensure full functionality.
- Step 6: At the service location, the technician will connect a diagnostic interface to your vehicle’s onboard port, typically located under the dashboard.
- Step 7: The programming process will be initiated using diagnostic software, allowing the technician to register the new smart key to your vehicle’s system.
- Step 8: Once programming is complete, the technician will test all smart key functions, including locking, unlocking, trunk release, and engine start, to verify proper operation.
- Step 9: Test each key fob yourself to confirm everything is functioning correctly before completing the service.
- Step 10: Store spare remotes in a safe place, and consider programming an extra smart key for emergency situations.
