<h1>2017 GMC Terrain &mdash; Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming (Flip Key and Smart Key)</h1> <p><font size="3">The 2017 Terrain allows programming of new key fobs using onboard procedures, depending on whether a working key is available. Follow the appropriate set of steps based on your situation. </font></p> <p><font size="3"><b>If All Keys Are Lost (Flip Key Models)</b> </font></p> <p><font size="3">If you no longer have any working keys, you can still program a new one using the method below. This process will take approximately 30 minutes and requires all new keys to be present. </font></p> <ul> <li><font size="3">Step 1: Insert a new key into the ignition and turn it to the ON/RUN position. The security light will illuminate. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 2: Wait 10 minutes, or until the security light turns off. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 3: Turn the key to the OFF position, wait a few seconds. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 4: Repeat Steps 1 through 3 two more times. After the third cycle, turn the key back to ON/RUN.</font></li> <li><font size="3"> Step 5: The key is now programmed. All previous keys are no longer valid. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 6: If you wish to add more keys, follow the steps in the section below. </font></li> </ul> <p><font size="3"><b>If You Have One Working Flip Key and Want to Add Another</b> </font></p> <p><font size="3">If you currently have a functional key, you can program a second key without professional equipment. </font></p> <ul> <li><font size="3">Step 1: Insert your working key into the ignition and turn it to ON/RUN. Wait for the dash lights to fully activate.</font></li> <li><font size="3"> Step 2: Turn the key to OFF and remove it from the ignition. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 3: Within five seconds, insert the new key and turn it to ON/RUN. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 4: Once the security light shuts off, the new key is successfully programmed. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 5: Repeat as needed to program additional keys.</font></li> </ul> <p><b><font size="3">If You Have a Recognized Smart Key Transmitter (For Smart Key Models)</font></b></p> <p><font size="3"> For models equipped with a smart key system, follow these general steps to add a new remote: </font></p> <ul> <li><font size="3">Step 1: Place the known smart transmitter inside the vehicle. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 2: Insert the new transmitter into the key pocket (or hold it close to the sensor area, depending on trim). </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 3: Follow any instructions on the dashboard screen or press the ignition button when prompted. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 4: When programming is complete, confirm functionality by testing all buttons on the new remote. </font></li> </ul> <p><font size="3"><b>Note:</b> The system supports a limited number of remotes. Be sure to test all fobs after setup is complete.</font></p>
