Programming Guide for 2018 Audi S6 Keyless Entry Smart Key Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 2018 Audi S6 does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. All remote fob programming must be performed by a qualified professional using Audi-certified diagnostic tools.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Schedule service with a certified automotive technician or authorized Audi service provider who has access to factory-grade diagnostic equipment.
  • Step 2: If the vehicle is operational, consider driving it to the service provider’s location. This approach is often more cost-effective than requesting mobile service.
  • Step 3: Ensure the technician has experience with Audi's smart key and immobilizer systems to prevent programming errors and ensure secure pairing.
  • Step 4: Bring all existing and new smart key remotes to the session. Any fobs not present during programming may be deleted from the system.
  • Step 5: The technician will connect specialized diagnostic equipment to your vehicle’s OBD-II port to access the electronic control modules responsible for key management.
  • Step 6: Using the diagnostic interface, the technician will initiate the programming sequence and register each smart key remote with the vehicle’s locking, ignition, and security systems.
  • Step 7: Each remote will be tested to confirm full functionality—including lock/unlock, trunk access, and push-button start.
  • Step 8: If any fob fails to function correctly, the technician will troubleshoot and reprogram the remote as necessary.
  • Step 9: Once all remotes have been successfully programmed and tested, the technician will complete the session and confirm that the vehicle exits programming mode.
