2018 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Buick LaCrosse

Programming with Two Recognized Remotes: If you have two functional remotes, a new remote can be added using the steps below. Ensure the vehicle is turned off and all remotes—both programmed and new—are with you.

  • Step 1: Place both recognized remotes in the front cupholder.
  • Step 2: Remove the key lock cylinder cap from the exterior driver door handle.
  • Step 3: Insert the emergency key of the new remote into the door lock and rotate to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display ""Ready For Remote #2, 3, 4 or 5.""
  • Step 4: Insert the new remote into the transmitter pocket located inside the armrest storage area.
  • Step 5: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. Once learned, the DIC will confirm readiness to program another remote.
  • Step 6: Remove the remote from the pocket and press the Unlock button to confirm successful programming.
  • Step 7: Repeat Steps 3 through 6 for any additional remotes.
  • Step 8: After programming all remotes, press and hold ENGINE START/STOP for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 9: Reinsert the emergency key into the remote.

Programming Without Recognized Remotes: If no remotes are currently programmed, follow the steps below to program up to eight new transmitters. This method is not supported in Canada and will take approximately 30 minutes.

  • Step 1: Remove the key lock cylinder cap from the driver door handle.
  • Step 2: Insert the emergency key into the door lock and turn to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The DIC will display ""Remote Learn Pending, Please Wait.""
  • Step 3: Wait 10 minutes until prompted with ""Press Engine Start Button To Learn,"" then press ENGINE START/STOP.
  • Step 4: Repeat Step 3 two more times (three 10-minute cycles in total).
  • Step 5: After the third cycle, the DIC will read ""Ready For Remote #1.""
  • Step 6: Insert the new remote into the transmitter pocket inside the armrest storage compartment.
  • Step 7: Press ENGINE START/STOP. The DIC will confirm the remote is learned.
  • Step 8: Remove the remote and press Unlock to complete programming.
  • Step 9: Repeat Steps 6 through 8 for each additional remote.
  • Step 10: Once done, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 11: Place the emergency key back into the remote.
