Programming Guide for 2018 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – ATS-V
Important Notice: You can add new remote transmitters using either two currently recognized remotes or through a timed initialization process if no fobs are already programmed. All transmitters must be inside the vehicle before beginning either procedure.
Programming a Remote – When Two Recognized Transmitters Are Available:
- Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is off. Have both programmed transmitters and the new one ready.
- Step 2: Remove the mechanical key from one of the working remotes.
- Step 3: Place both recognized remotes into the front cupholder.
- Step 4: On the driver’s exterior door handle, remove the cover to reveal the mechanical lock.
- Step 5: Insert the key and turn it counterclockwise to the unlock position five times in succession.
- Step 6: Watch for the message “Ready to Learn Electronic Key” to appear on the Driver Information Center.
- Step 7: Open the center console and remove the cupholder liner to expose the transmitter pocket.
- Step 8: Insert the new remote into this slot, button side facing up.
- Step 9: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. The system will register the new remote.
- Step 10: Take the remote out and press either the lock or unlock button to confirm it is functional.
- Step 11: To program more remotes, repeat Steps 8 through 10.
- Step 12: After all remotes have been added, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit the process.
- Step 13: Replace the mechanical key into the remote once complete.
Programming a Remote – With No Recognized Transmitters Available: (Allows programming of up to 8 remotes. Approximate duration: 30 minutes.)
- Step 1: Start with the vehicle turned off and keep all new remotes inside the cabin.
- Step 2: Remove the mechanical key from one of the transmitters.
- Step 3: Detach the cap on the driver’s door handle to reveal the lock cylinder.
- Step 4: Insert the key and rotate it to the unlock position five times quickly.
- Step 5: The Driver Information Center will show: “Remote Learn Pending. Please Wait.”
- Step 6: Wait approximately 10 minutes until prompted to press the start button.
- Step 7: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC will return to the pending message.
- Step 8: Repeat Step 7 twice more, with each prompt appearing 10 minutes apart.
- Step 9: After the third cycle, the message “Ready for Remote #1” will appear.
- Step 10: Open the center console and uncover the transmitter pocket beneath the cupholder liner.
- Step 11: Insert the first remote into the pocket, with the buttons facing upward.
- Step 12: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The system will recognize and store the remote.
- Step 13: Remove the remote and press unlock or lock to confirm it is active.
- Step 14: Repeat Steps 11 through 13 to program any additional transmitters.
- Step 15: Once all remotes have been added, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to finalize programming.
- Step 16: Reinsert the mechanical key into each transmitter when done.
