Programming Guide for 2018 Cadillac XTS Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Importance: Properly programming your 2018 Cadillac XTS remote fob ensures secure access to your vehicle and enables push-button start and keyless entry functionality. This guide provides detailed steps for programming a new transmitter, whether or not you have a recognized fob available. Follow the correct method based on your situation.

Programming with Two Recognized Transmitters:

  • Step 1: Remove the physical key from one of the recognized transmitters.
  • Step 2: Place both recognized transmitters into the front center console cupholders.
  • Step 3: Remove the cap from the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle. Insert the vehicle key and turn it counterclockwise to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display “READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4, ETC.”
  • Step 4: Place the new transmitter into the transmitter pocket located inside the center console between the driver and passenger seats. Lift the storage tray to access the pocket.
  • Step 5: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. Once the remote is successfully learned, the DIC will indicate readiness for the next transmitter.
  • Step 6: Remove the transmitter from the pocket and press the lock or unlock button. Repeat Steps 4–6 for each additional transmitter.
  • Step 7: After all transmitters have been programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for about 12 seconds to exit programming mode.

Programming Without a Recognized Transmitter:

  • Step 1: Remove the cap from the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle. Insert the vehicle key and turn it counterclockwise to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The DIC will display “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
  • Step 2: Wait approximately 10 minutes. Once the DIC shows “PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN,” press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The display will revert to “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
  • Step 3: Repeat Step 2 two additional times (three total 10-minute cycles). After the third time, all previously recognized transmitters will be erased. The DIC should now read “READY FOR REMOTE #1.”
  • Step 4: Place the new transmitter into the transmitter pocket inside the center console. Ensure the buttons face the rear of the vehicle.
  • Step 5: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC will confirm when the transmitter has been learned.
  • Step 6: Remove the transmitter and press the lock or unlock button. Repeat Steps 4–6 for any additional transmitters.
  • Step 7: Once finished, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
