Smart Key Remote Programming Instructions – 2018 Genesis G90
Important Notice: The 2018 Genesis G90 does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. This process must be completed by a trained technician using professional-grade diagnostic tools.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Reach out to a certified automotive technician or authorized service provider who specializes in smart key programming and has access to manufacturer-compatible diagnostic equipment.
- Step 2: Confirm that the technician is equipped to interface with your vehicle’s electronic system to perform secure key registration.
- Step 3: If the vehicle is in working condition, consider driving it to the technician’s location to avoid additional charges associated with mobile service.
- Step 4: Schedule an appointment to ensure tool availability and minimize wait times upon arrival.
- Step 5: Bring all existing smart keys with you. Some systems require reprogramming of all remotes during the session to retain full functionality.
- Step 6: At the service location, the technician will connect a diagnostic interface to your vehicle’s onboard port, typically located beneath the dashboard.
- Step 7: Using the appropriate software, the technician will initiate the key programming process and securely register the new remote to your vehicle’s system.
- Step 8: After programming is complete, the technician will test all functions—such as keyless entry, push-button start, and trunk release—to ensure the remote works correctly.
- Step 9: Test each smart key yourself before concluding the service to confirm successful programming.
- Step 10: Store backup remotes in a safe location and consider programming an additional key for future emergencies.
