Programming Guide for 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Keyless Entry Remote Fob (Smart Key)

Important Notice: Follow these detailed steps to successfully program your keyless entry remote fob. If the programming process does not work, professional assistance may be required.

Remote Head Key System Programming (For Remote Head Keys):

  • Step 1: Insert the First Valid Key Insert the first valid key into the ignition and turn the ignition to the “ON” position for 5 seconds.
  • Step 2: Turn the Key to the OFF Position Turn the key to the “OFF” position and remove it from the ignition.
  • Step 3: Insert the Second Valid Key Within 30 seconds of removing the first key, insert the second valid key into the ignition and turn it to the “ON” position. The immobilizer display will begin blinking after approximately 10 seconds.
  • Step 4: Insert the Blank Immobilizer Key When the immobilizer display starts blinking, turn the second valid key to the “OFF” position and remove it. Within 30 seconds, insert a blank immobilizer key into the ignition switch and turn it to the “ON” position. Complete this operation within 30 seconds after the immobilizer display starts blinking. When programming is successful, the immobilizer display will stay on for 30 seconds and then turn off. If an error occurs, the immobilizer display will turn off during the procedure.
  • Step 5: Program Additional Keys If you need to register another key, repeat Step 1 through Step 4.

Remote Portion Programming (For the Remote Function of the Key):

  • Step 1: Have All Keys Ready Have all current and new keys available that you wish to register.
  • Step 2: Press the UNLOCK Button Using a valid, already registered key, press and hold the UNLOCK button for 4 to 10 seconds, then press and hold the LOCK button.
  • Step 3: Release Both Buttons in Sequence Within 10 seconds of pressing the LOCK button, release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons in sequence. At this point, all previously programmed keys (except for the one used in the previous steps) will be erased, and the answerback function will confirm the system is in registration mode (the door will lock and unlock).
  • Step 4: Register the ID Code of the Next Key Within 60 seconds, press both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons for 2 seconds, release them for 1 second, then press the UNLOCK button. The answerback function will confirm that the ID code registration of the key is completed.
  • Step 5: Register Additional Keys To register additional keys, repeat Step 4 within 60 seconds.
  • Step 6: Registration Timeout If no key ID is registered within 60 seconds after Step 4, the registration mode will be canceled, and the system will return to normal mode.

F.A.S.T.-Key Smart Key System Programming (For F.A.S.T.-Keys)

  • Step 1: Open the Driver's Door Keep the driver’s door open throughout the process, and make sure the other doors remain closed.
  • Step 2: Activate the Operation Mode With the first valid F.A.S.T.-key, put the operation mode in the “ON” position. Perform the following steps within 30 seconds.
  • Step 3: Press the UNLOCK Button and the LOCK Button Press the UNLOCK button on the first valid F.A.S.T.-key for 4 to 10 seconds, and then press the LOCK button during this time.
  • Step 4: Release the Buttons in Sequence Within 10 seconds of pressing the LOCK button in Step 3, release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons in sequence.
  • Step 5: Press the UNLOCK Button on the Second Key With the second valid F.A.S.T.-key, press the UNLOCK button for 4 to 10 seconds and then press the LOCK button during this time.
  • Step 6: Release the Buttons in Sequence Within 10 seconds of pressing the LOCK button, release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons. The immobilizer display on the multi-information display will blink.
  • Step 7: Touch the New F.A.S.T.-Key to the Engine Switch Within 20 seconds of the immobilizer display blinking, touch the bottom back portion of the new F.A.S.T.-key to the engine switch. When the registration is complete, the buzzer will sound three times, and the immobilizer display will stay on for 30 seconds before turning off.
  • Step 8: Error Handling If the immobilizer display turns off during the procedure, F.A.S.T.-key programming will be terminated, and the buzzer will sound for 3 seconds.
  • Step 9: Program Another F.A.S.T.-Key To program additional F.A.S.T.-keys, repeat Step 1 through Step 8. Make sure to follow the steps before the operation mode is put in the OFF position.

Important Notes: F.A.S.T.-key programming will be terminated if the operation mode is set to OFF before the immobilizer display starts blinking. Do not interrupt the display screen; it may prevent the immobilizer display from being visible. The immobilizer display will turn off immediately if the operation mode is switched off.
