Programming Guide for 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage Keyless Entry Remote Fob (Smart Key)

Important Notice: This vehicle does not support onboard programming for keyless entry remote fobs. Programming requires specialized diagnostic equipment and must be performed by a qualified technician.

Programming Procedure

  • Step 1: Locate a Qualified Professional Find a certified automotive technician or service provider who is equipped to program smart key remote fobs for your vehicle.
  • Step 2: Consider Cost-Effective Options If your vehicle is still drivable, consider driving it to the technician’s location, as this can save you money compared to having a technician come to you.
  • Step 3: Prepare All Key Fobs Gather all current and new key fobs, as some vehicles may require all existing fobs to be present during the programming process.
  • Step 4: Provide Proof of Ownership The technician may request proof of ownership, such as your vehicle registration or title, to verify that you are authorized to program the keyless entry fobs.
  • Step 5: Connect to the Vehicle’s System The technician will connect specialized diagnostic equipment to your vehicle’s system to begin the programming process.
  • Step 6: Programming the Smart Key Remote Fob Using the diagnostic tools, the technician will program the new remote fob, pairing it with your vehicle’s security system to ensure it functions properly.
  • Step 7: Test the Programmed Fob Once the programming is complete, the technician will test the remote fob to confirm it is working properly, including testing the keyless entry and remote start systems.
  • Step 8: Program Additional Fobs (If Needed) If you have additional fobs to be programmed, the technician will repeat the process for each fob. Ensure that all new fobs are programmed at the same time to ensure they are synchronized with the vehicle’s system.
  • Step 9: Exit Programming Mode Once all fobs are successfully programmed and tested, the technician will exit the programming mode and reset the vehicle’s system to its normal operating state.
  • Step 10: Retrieve Your Vehicle and Key Fobs After the programming is complete, retrieve your vehicle along with the newly programmed remote fobs. Test all fobs to ensure they work properly before leaving the service provider.
