2019 BMW 3 Series – Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: The 2019 BMW 3 Series does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Programming must be carried out using advanced diagnostic equipment by a certified automotive technician or authorized dealer.

Programming Procedure:

• Step 1: Confirm that the replacement smart key fob is fully compatible with the 2019 BMW 3 Series. An incorrect part or frequency may result in failed programming or limited remote functionality.
• Step 2: Schedule an appointment with a certified technician or authorized BMW service center that is equipped with the necessary diagnostic tools to perform the programming.
• Step 3: Ask if all currently active remotes must be present. Some systems will remove any remotes that are not included in the current programming session.
• Step 4: If the vehicle is driveable, consider transporting it to the service provider to potentially reduce costs, as mobile services may incur additional fees.
• Step 5: At the service location, the technician will connect specialized diagnostic equipment to the vehicle’s onboard port to access the key programming system.
• Step 6: The technician will then initiate a secure pairing process, allowing the new smart key to communicate with the vehicle’s electronic systems and enable keyless entry, ignition, and security functions.
